Susan Ackerman, 66, of Nutley passed away on December 28, 2022. Born in Newark, she was a resident of Nutley for many years. Susan was a special education teacher for the Elizabeth Board of Education for many years before retiring.

During Susan's battle with cancer, she embarked a spiritual journey of Buddhism. She traveled to Nepal, she volunteered at the KTD Monastery in NY and was involved with the Isha Foundation. Susan was also studying to become a Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner and had made many friends along the way. She was admired by many people with her strong fight and determination.

Devoted mother of Jessika and Dan Ackerman, and Shantel Coleman. Loving grandmother of Evan Caswell, Erian Ibrahim, Suri, Kayden, and Kassius Surita, and Niko Brisbon. Dear sister of Anne Ackerman Palmer.

Funeral Arrangements were private under the direction of Compassionate Cremation Services, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton.
